National Mathematics Day is celebrated every year on December 22 on the birth anniversary of the famous Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan (22 December)

Who was Ramanujan? 

Srinivasa Ramanujan was a mathematician born on December 22, 1887 in Erode (Madras Presidency), Tamil Nadu. He had mastered mathematics from an early age.

Important facts about ramanujan

In the year 1913, Ramanujan went to the famous Trinity College, Cambridge University. 

He was the first Indian to be elected as a Fellow of Trinity College.

In 1918, he was elected to the Royal Society of London, and became one of the youngest members of it. 

- Ramanujan compiled 3,884 theorems of mathematics throughout his life. Most of these theorems have been proved. 

He died at the tender age of 32 on 26 April 1920.
